How far in advance should I book my move?

Frequently Asked Questions
Pricing & Quotes
Learn how our moving quotes work and what information is used to prepare your price.
How is the cost of my move calculated?
Moving costs depend on factors such as the amount being moved, travel distance, access conditions, required crew and equipment, specialty items and any packing or additional services requested.
Do you offer fixed, all-inclusive pricing?
Halcyon provides clear, all-inclusive pricing based on the confirmed details of your move. Your quote outlines the services, crew, equipment, travel and any additional requirements included in the price, so you know what to expect before moving day. If the scope of the move remains unchanged, the price you are quoted is the price you pay.
What information do you need to prepare a quote?
We typically need your moving date, origin and destination, approximate inventory, property type, stairs or elevator access, parking conditions and any special handling or additional services required.
Can my quote change?
Your quote is based on the inventory, access conditions and services confirmed during the quoting process. If the scope of the move changes, such as additional belongings, a different address, unexpected access restrictions or newly requested services, we will review those changes with you before adjusting the price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Preparing for Your Move
Practical information to help you prepare your home before the moving crew arrives.
How should I prepare for moving day?
Unless you have booked professional packing services, please have your belongings packed, boxes securely closed and clearly labelled before the crew arrives. Set aside anything travelling with you, and confirm parking, elevator reservations and building access in advance. Please also let us know about any access restrictions, specialty items or last-minute changes before moving day.
Should I empty my dresser drawers?
Remove fragile, valuable and heavy items from drawers. Light clothing may sometimes remain inside sturdy furniture, but this depends on the item, access conditions and how it must be handled.
Should I disconnect my appliances?
Appliances should normally be disconnected and prepared before the movers arrive. Let us know in advance if you require assistance coordinating appliance preparation.
Do I need to reserve my building elevator?
Yes, if your building requires reservations. Confirm the elevator window, loading area, parking rules, access instructions and any move-in or move-out requirements with building management.
How should I label my moving boxes?
Label each box with its destination room and a brief description of the contents. Clearly mark fragile items and boxes that should remain upright.
What should I keep with me during the move?
Keep identification, medication, keys, important documents, electronics, chargers, jewellery, valuables and anything needed immediately upon arrival with you rather than packing them in the moving truck.
